An aluminum profile is a continuous aluminum section manufactured with a defined cross-sectional shape, most commonly through extrusion. It can be a channel, tube, rail, frame, trim or application-specific component. An OEM/ODM manufacturer of custom aluminum profiles designs the cross-section around structural, installation, thermal or decorative requirements.
Aluminum billets are heated and pushed through a shaped die. The opening in the die determines the profile’s cross-section.

A sheet is more suitable for flat panels and formed covers. An extrusion is often better when the same three-dimensional geometry must continue along a length.
A solid profile has no enclosed internal void. Flat bars and simple angles are common examples.
A hollow profile contains one or more fully enclosed cavities. Square and rectangular tubes fall into this group.
A semi-hollow profile has a partially enclosed feature, such as a deep channel with a narrow opening.
This distinction affects die design, extrusion difficulty, tolerance and tooling cost.
An aluminum channel positions an LED strip, helps transfer heat and supports a diffuser for a more controlled lighting line.
Rails and clamps create a lightweight, corrosion-resistant support system for photovoltaic modules.

A drawing review should happen before die production. Very thin walls, uneven metal distribution and inaccessible cavities can make an otherwise attractive design difficult to extrude consistently.
